Mohammed Shami Ahmed was born on 3 September 1990, in Amroha, Uttar Pradesh, India. He played first-class cricket for Bengal. He earned his first IPL contract in 2011 for Kolkata Knight Riders but didn’t make his debut until 2013.
International Career
Shami made his ODI debut in January 2013 against Pakistan and delivered a record-setting four maiden overs. In the same year, during his Test debut against West Indies, Shami took nine wickets, with a five-wicket haul in the second innings.
The right-arm pacer can swing the ball both ways and has been described as “unplayable” in his days. He became the fastest Indian bowler to take 100 ODI wickets, in 2019.
In the 2015 ICC Cricket World Cup, Shami took 17 wickets, the fourth leading wicket-taker in the tournament.
During the 2019 Cricket World Cup, he took a hat-trick against Afghanistan. He became the second Indian bowler to claim a hat-trick in a World Cup match, after Chetan Sharma.
