Madison Keys was born in Gates Mills, Ohio, on October 9, 1993. She began playing tennis at the age of nine. When she was 16, she left her hometown to attend the Evert Tennis Academy.

Both of her parents work in the medical field: her mother is a nurse, and her father is a doctor who wrote the well-known book “Wheat Belly.” Keys was ranked No. 3 as a junior and won a number of important events, including the 2010 Orange Bowl.
